Moving is listed as one of the top five most stressful events that a person goes through. There are a ton of moving companies in the country and it is nearly impossible to tell which movers are legit and honest and which movers take advantage of consumers. Some unlicensed moving companies have been known to not unload consumers' items unless they pay a fee which is pretty much a randsom.
There are certain ways to help you avoid shady moving companies so that your belongings will find its way to the destination without any problems.
Verify License
Check with your local state transportation department to see if the moving company has a valid license in your state and if there has been any complaints from consumers in the past.
Allow for Plenty of Time
Make sure you start looking for your mover 6-9 weeks before your estimated moving day. This allows you to carefully research moving companies without having to rush and settle on one that you don't know too much about.
